Saïd M'Roubaba, better known to French tap fans as Soprano, was born in Marseilles, France, on January 14, 1979. As a youth, Saïd was hypnotised with American R&B and hip-hop artists such as Michael Jackson and Kris Kross. Though a reluctant loss leader, it was not long to begin with he formed a hip-hop crew of his have, with two members from his parents' aboriginal Comoros and the fourth from Morocco. M'Roubaba and friends became important players in the old age when European hip-hop's foundation was being laid. He earned a reputation for a lyric intuition and insight uncommon in the genre. The iV capitalized on this mental paradigm, choosing the mention Psy 4 de la Rime (IV Psychiatrists of Rhyme). M'Roubaba chose the MC make Soprano, in love with American TV's Tony Soprano, especially for the character's psychiatric explorations. The grouping built up instant recognition, with 2 records to its course credit entry, Enfants de la Lune and Block Party, both of which went gold in a matter of weeks upon release. As often happens with successful hip-hop groups, one fellow member finds himself singled out as having solo potentiality. Soprano was solicited by a procedure of labels offering to help him release a solo saucer. He well-tried and true the ethel Waters with the 2006 mixtape Psychanalyse Avant l'Album. The record's convinced reception and enthusiastic tag reinforcement convinced the artist that the clip was right for his debut studio flat record album. Puisqu'il Faut Vivre was released in March 2007, instantly landing on Billboard's European Top 100.

The Game - The Game Will Put Off Retirement For Dre

THE GAME has cast doubt over his plans to retire from the rap game - insisting he would consider making a fourth album if he can get his former mentor DR. DRE on board.

In recent months, the Dreams hitmaker has repeatedly declared he will quit his music career after the release of his new album LAX this summer (08).

Just last week (ends13Jun08), The Game - real name Jayceon Taylor - admitted he's had enough of life on the road and wants to dedicate more time to family matters.

But now the rapper appears to be changing his mind about hanging up the mic - if he can bring together several hip-hop heavyweights from his native Compton, California for the record.

He says: "If I do come back with another album, it'll be called The D.O.C.

"It'll have 10 songs on it. It won't have titles, it'll just be Chapter One through Ten, and (it stands for) The Diary of Compton.

"The only way that I'll do The D.O.C. or comeback to do that album is if I can get (former NWA rapper) Ren, King Tee, (Dr.) Dre, (Ice) Cube, because I don't want any features except people who've been through Compton and really made their mark.

"If I can make The Diary of Compton happen, and can get Dre to executive produce that, then you'll see a fourth album."

And if The Game's plans don't come into fruition, he is happy enough just spending time with his two sons - Harlem, four, and King, one.

He adds, "If not, you'll see me driving by the park in California, you'll see me throwing balls with my kids, that's it."

Meanwhile, his third album LAX has been pushed back for the second time - the disc will now hit stores in the U.S. on 22 July (08), instead of 8 July (08).

Amy Studt, My Paper Made Men Album Review

Amy Studt

My Paper Made Men

Alex Lai

Landing inside the top ten with her pop-rock single 'Misfit', Amy Studt was perceived as a possible British answer to Avril Lavigne back in 2003. Unlike the Canadian, she failed to continually deliver hits and was dropped by her label, despite selling 200,000 copies of her debut album 'False Smiles'. She now returns, having toured with Razorlight under the alias of 'Jane Wails'.

Any fans of Studt who have been waiting for this comeback may be in for something of a shock; put simply this is not the same artist who was a teen star. Introduced with a hypnotic piano melody, 'Sad Sad World' opens the record in brooding fashion, before Studt unleashes a vitriolic outburst. 'She Ran' is a very grand number full of attitude and a thunderous orchestra and well-utilised strings, perhaps raising expectations too much as it is the highlight of the album. With the 'mature' direction seemingly working well, proceedings dive on the fragile 'Furniture', which tries too hard to be all grown up, while 'She Walks Beautiful' is an Evanescence song without the crunching chords, which either way doesn't really impress.

The closest Studt comes to her previous incarnation is on 'Chasing The Light', which features an angsty chorus that is misplaced with the rest of the track. 'Nice Boys' is a complete change in tone, bordering on jovial and on which the artist sounds similar to Kate Nash, but it isn't enjoyable as far as pop music goes. By the time the final ballad of 'Here Lies Love' spins round, it's difficult to still maintain an interest, which is a shame considering the promising start and the fact that Studt does have a decent voice.
